Hello, Scotland!: Day 18

1 July

Paris was supposed to be our next stop, but we both felt as if we had eaten amazing food, drank really good wine, sipped on fantastic coffee, and viewed precious art work in Italy so we bypassed Paris and went onto Scotland (besides Paris is pretty expensive!)

We traveled to Scotland by means of walking, metro, bus, and Easy Jet and arrived in Edinburgh about 3:30 in the afternoon...we gained an hour. We'd book a litte Air B&B a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile area and now we had to find it. Again, thank goodness for #Mapsme! We hopped on the number 35 bus and were dropped about 1 block from our stay with these directions from Liam, the gentleman who owned the flat

"I will be at work all day so I will leave a key in the black box behind the green door. Use the code 4444 and then use the first key to get through the black door, then go to the top floor to the red door and let yourself in."

It really feels strange to walk into someone else's home that you've never met! I'm still trying to wrap my head around how this Air B&B works! His place was really nice and the bed was so comfortable AND we had our own bathroom.

What to do in Edinburgh on a Thursday night????? First thing...a 1/2 pint of a local brew then to a delicious gastro-pub where we feasted on fresh caught sea bream and local pork and five star tater tots (see pic). Then what??? The only option for two women who haven't watched a movie in 3 weeks was to GO SEE A MOVIE! The new cinema complex was but a mere 5 minute walk and we went to see in IMAX, Jurassic World. But first, a STARBUCKS!!! Mackenzie was bummed that she couldn't get her usual, a venti iced coffee, easy ice, breve, four pumps vanilla, two pumps cinnamon dolce because Starbucks over here basically serves: coffee, cappucinos, lattes and expressos. They did get the easy ice, since everything is easy ice here.

When we walked into the flat after the movie we heard Liam in the next room:

"Hello" we called out tentively.

"Oh, hello" replied Liam as he staggered out of the doorway. "You'll have to excuse me as I've had a wee too much wine."

"Not a problem" we calmly replied although we both felt like laughing out loud.

"Everything good? Okay, goodnight" and he closed the door.

Funny, funny, scottish man!

Tip of the Day: If you see a Starbucks in another country, don't order anything fancy!
