7 July
Morning came early in our Loch Lomond auto park and we started driving about 7:00 and had to get gas, but no gas stations were in sight. Mackenzie got the #MapsMe app out and found a station close by. We arrived at 8:05 and it was closed and we were on empty! Just then a little car pulls up and out jumps a nice man who opened the station...just in time! All pumped up and a quick little 'pull ourselves together' in the shabby bathroom and we headed for the Glasgow Airport.
No problems getting through security except that I Left my wee can of Red Bull in my coat pocket and that slowed us down a bit. The entire time at the airport we were surrounded by these band members who were loud and obnoxious and obviously from LA. Mackenzie was having flashbacks! One of the younger guys, who wore sunglasses the entire time in the airport started singing fairly loudly with an older gentleman near where we were sitting. We just wanted to drink our coffee and so we moved to another area (didn't help as we could still hear them). Anyhow, we could hear them all over the airplane talking in loud voices and then at customs, they all started saying that they were VIP and should be let through first. And, dang it...they were let through! Turns out that the older gentleman singing was Frankie Valli! Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were performing the next night in Dublin. We didn't even recognize him when Mackenzie ran into him and then he in turn ran into me. Oh, Sandy, Baby...
Rented another car which we named, Gerard (Butler). This car has absolutely no pickup, so we probably mis-named it. Dublin is a huge city and very much like any city in the US. It was easy to drive around and we drove to Wicklow, where 'P.S. I Love You' was filmed and ate at the 'Bridge Tavern' then walked the town for a while and back to get to our hotel for the next few nights...The Pilgrim's Rest...outside of Cappoquin in South Ireland. The hotel is situated next to the Mt. Melleray Abbey, which we were told is world famous. We arrived at 9:00 p.m. and were shown our room up narrow hallways adorned with beautiful artwork, and into our small bedroom decorated in early 1900's fashion.
Tip of the Day: Listen to people in the airport who sing well, and don't runaway.
Peace,
The Traveling Women
